Courts and rooms

The Kilbirnie Tennis Club boasts a cosy club room and five courts (two Plexiplave, three AstroTurf) in a lovely, sheltered, bush-clad setting within the Town Belt. Within the club room are kitchen and bathroom facilities, seating, a bar which acts as our pro shop, and a table tennis table.

Member rights to courts

  • All members are entitled to use the courts exclusively outside the times of club events, coaching, interclub fixtures, interclub training, tournaments and other members' bookings. All bookings are visible on the web booking system here.
  • Senior members and team captains are entitled to make bookings subject to approval by the court bookings administrator using their own user account. To request an account be made or need to rest your password, use the form here.

Note: a keycard is required to access the courts 1 & 2 (the hard courts at the bottom) and may only be possessed by senior members and team captains. A keycard can be gained through the use of this form and a $20 bond, refundable when returned in good condition.

Member rights to clubhouse

  • All members are also entitled to use the clubhouse at any time not already booked with a senior member present.

Non-member rights to courts

  • Non-members may use courts 3, 4 & 5 on a first-come-first-serve basis at $5 per person per hour when no club or member activities are scheduled (all bookings are visible here). They must be responsible and respectable, only use the courts for activities with a community, cultural or recreational interest and uphold the terms below. Cash is to be put in the honesty box near the entrance to the clubhouse.

Non-member rights to courts and clubhouse

  • Non-members may book any court(s) and/or the clubhouse, at the discretion of, and at a fee decided by, the management committee, on the condition that prior written consent from the Wellington City Council is obtained. They must also be responsible and respectable, only use the courts for activities with a community, cultural or recreational interest and uphold the terms below. To make a request, use this form.

Terms and conditions of use (not comprehensive)

Hirees at a minimum must ensure:

  • no nuisance or annoyance to neighbours is caused (e.g. by high noise levels or offensive behaviour);
  • liquor licensing requirements are met, if applicable;
  • delivery and the collection of rubbish and recycling bins is arranged;
  • the clubrooms and surrounding areas are left in a clean and tidy state;
  • the repair of any damage to the club’s facilities caused by its staff, spectators, or participants is paid for and arranged;
  • they accept liability for all items left on the premises;
  • they accept that there may be equipment failure, including net breakage or gate lock, and not seek reimbursement if this occurs;
  • they follow all applicable health and safety regulations including requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
